so a few of you guys have asked which blogs i read. wow. where do i start?

here's a short laundry list below. but first, i must say, that i go through phases. it depends on my mood, the inspiration i want/need, and if i just want to look at pretty pictures :)

hiatus, no?

no, no hiatus.
just catchup. yes, that's what i've been doing and playing for the past month of no blogging.

wow, and just to get back to the surface seems quite peaceful and lets me breathe!

a few things about me that you might need to know at this point :

i'm an all or nothin' kinda girl. i devote all my time and energy into one thing, and then i get burnt out. yes, it happens. i try not to get there, but it happens, which results in mini-hiatuses. if that's a word. so, here i am, ready to roll again with new fresh ideas.
i've found a love for hot yoga and circuit training. its amazing to me how you can walk into a place like these, exhuasted, burnt out, tired, frustrated, etc, and walk out a new person. wow. if you are searching for something you don't know what it is, a new you perhaps, try one of these. its amazing how much energy you have and hopefully it will contribute to sleeping better. which is another reason for burn out. and yes. that's me. sleep deprived. not because of stress, its because its me, working on that :)
i'm working on a few new things for my business. what do these include?

birth and wedding annoucements, personal stationery, downloadables
my new website, including new blog, tba
a totally integrated customer ordering system within my new website

With all this, my lovlies, be patient, there are good and great things coming. With my crazy schedule, it just doesn't happen in my time :)

{tapping into my crafty brain}

i'd like to think i'm a pretty crafty kinda girl. i love reading blogs on how-to's , DIYs, tutorials, and just plain making pretty things. i love to get inspired by somebody's favorite color scheme, ideas, experiences, or anything that makes people happy.

i think my ambition in life is really to do just that. make things that make people happy. in turn, i make myself happy, but other people too. i read a verse that really just kind of captivated me. its this :

"Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed." (Proverbs 16:3)

it makes you stop, doesn't it? its hard sometimes for us to be selfish and want the things that WE want. we all struggle with that, don't we? i sure do. but this verse really helps me with that. to me, it means, hey - our own worldly desires are not something that we should push away, because if you commit to whatever it is that you do, your plans will succeed. that's why i feel like i really get to my happy place when i make things. when i make people happy. and when i just take time to put effort into my business and the way i want people to see me. i'm real, i am who i am and i'm not going to change my persona to fit anyone elses. that's why i have my favorite colors, my style, my passion and love for photography and graphic design. i've often told people, i would still do graphic design and photography even i didn't get paid to do it. i just love it that much. and one day, my plans will succeed. i don't know when. i know i'm successful at what i do, because people confirm that for me. i get new ideas and inspirations and excitement and that just confirms i'm doing what i need to be doing. my plans are successful.

i don't know what the future holds. with my field, there is so much out there. there are lots of ways that design and photography can go. as for now, i'll plug on like i'm "pluggin" on. and as for the future, i'll see. but in the now, its the little things that are making me happy. reading blogs. people's experiences, crafting adventures and just their daily lives. its amazing how you can connect.

anyways, my whole point is to say, i wouldn't have the love of photography and design, if i couldn't be hands-on too. i really love the whole aspect of being an artist, that you can change your daily routine. i feed off of using my hands to make things. i'll keep it that way, and i'm sure my plans will succeed :)

The business is Ever Clean, and they focus on really using your talents and God-given gifts, to joyfully clean residential houses. i've had many requests, each time someone comes to my house they ask me for this painting i did in college. i never really loved it, until so many people asked me to have it. i'm finally taking it to a nice print shop, and having a few giclees made of it. so, you'll soon be able to order a print of it. if you don't want such a large piece, you can also order stationery sets, or smaller prints. its a nice statement piece with lots of texture. it blends with lots of other colors.

{branding} carolinas natural weight loss center

I'm proud to show this set off... :)

A client of mine has been working very hard on their new section of their natural health facility, in Charlotte, NC. Their new section is their weight loss system. Sounds great, I'd love to try it out! :) Anyways, through their branding project, I designed a rack card to be place in rack holders, two business cards for the physicians, and a brochure for all their info. Loved the color and quality. These turned out great.

If you're ever in the market for a new physician, these guys are fantastic. Down to earth, friendly people. Their practice is always offering webinar and free and low cost events. Here's a link to their events...

this year for the holidays, it was all about relaxing. and i'm so glad I had the ability/priveledge to do so. it was nice just enjoying company, family, sleep, and coffee... all kinds of flavors.

as the snow started coming down christmas night, we all got excited, but to wake to it the next morning was even better. here's just a few photos of our day at my parents house enjoying the snow! a special treat... the birdhouse. love me some bird houses.

{my new lens!}

hello all! can i get an amen for christmas break?? Oh my, did I need that. Lots of coffee, relaxing, reading magazines, and lounging on the couch. I feel SO much better and ready to tackle the new year! We enjoyed a great snow the day after christmas, fun times in it and a great time with our families. Pics of those to come on tomorrows post!

For now... I'd like to show you some shots I took of our wedding rings with my new macro lens, and ring light flash. Man, does this open tons of doors! How awesome is this! I know many of them may look similar, but pay attention to the lighting... this flash has many features! I'm in love.

this photo below was without my ringlight flash... nice that it pulls in a lot of the background colors and softens up the photos. i love both options.
back to the ringlight flash...

lastly... playing with the depth of field and the possibilities... notice my entire camera in my husbands eye... wow. the depth! notice the slight amount of eyelashes... and how they fade into the distance...

I was driving in my car the other day... thinking about the bazillion things I had on my mind, my to-do list, what i've got done, what i need to get done, business ideas, gift ideas, etc... you get the point. I'm sitting here thinking, how in the world do I have time to get

all this done? I took a big deep breath and turned up my radio. This song was on. It hit me. It was exactly at the point in the song where he says

"Slow down...Slow down,

Before today becomes our yesterday

And it hit me. I needed to hear that. I'm so caught up in the hustle and bustle of the holidays, owning a business, and trying to make everything/everyone happy and everything run smoothly, producing my best work and getting everything I possible can done, I need to slow down... before I realize it was yesterday and I didn't take the time to invest in personal relationships. And of course the graphic designer in me inspired me to look at the simple things in life, that don't worry, don't fret, they just exist. I've come to realize nobody has a deadline for me, its just me beating myself up because I'm not meeting my own unrealistic deadlines. I always think I can cram so much into a days work, that just physically is not possible. So here's to a new year of organization, time management, and making my business and my clients have the best of me.

So for now, I'm off to finish making gift tags for my family's gifts, and placing those special ribbons on them, because family is where its important. They are my support system and my rock! {catch up} is what i feel like i'm doing. always. buried in projects, ideas, and crafts. i love it though. wouldn't have it any other way.

i've been working hard on my new stationery line. it has started selling at The Blend coffee shop in Prosperity, SC. I got several collections there for sale, including :Signature Bird, Floral, Modern Pattern, Fun and Feminine, and lots of fun one of a kind handmade card sets, gift tags, and gift tag sets. At the beginning of the year, I'll be adding some local photography stationery featuring my own photography. Below is a small amount of what my work looks like in the shop.
Also, custom orders have been keeping me pretty busy. I love the special touch of wrapping my custom card creations. It just adds the finishing touch. I find myself taking hours of my time {and never charge for it} just so i can be pleased by the wrapping.

So, my friends I'm sorry to leave you hanging for such a long time. With the promising new year arising, I hope to increase my blogging much more!

I have several photography events to blog about, new stationery to show you, and lots of fun interactive things ... I'd love to get to know my readers! about time right? well, the bride and i set out on a gorgeous summerish day in greenville, sc to tackle some bridals. we found lots of fun new little avenues in falls park, and wondered around. she was such a great sport, climbing every where and full of a free spirit. her cute little jade shoes matched and her personality really shows through. i can finally release these images, the couple got married this past weekend and i was fortunate enough to be their wedding photographer, and had two other guys at my right hand. stay tuned for their wedding photography!

Just working like a busy bee over here! Just finished up this cute set of custom stationery for a gift. The set features 25 cards with the bride's initial custom designed just for her, as well as 1/2 and 1/2 teal and yellow envelopes. there's a lot going on over at the image to impact studio. lots of freelance projects {my list has never been so long} however, i'm happily checking things off one by one, that's all we can do, right?

{first off}
lots of fun projects happening. i'm working on completing a new series of handmade stationery, to be distributed throughout several boutiques/coffee shops in greenville, spartanburg, and prosperity, south carolina for a start. i'm carefully creating these for the card collector, artist, or just someone who loves stationery. i'll be revealing a custom line for personalized stationery as well.

as well as the stationery, fall portraits are well in session. [editing those are quite high on my list]

Had a great day down in Prosperity, SC and then also in Batesburg-Leesville, SC. The weather was perfect, just a cool breeze and not too bright. We enjoyed taking some photos down by the church where they may be getting married, and over at the bride's families' house. Fun barns + a great couple = an awesome shoot.

weekend update :: hilton head island, sc

wow. does hilton head have tons to offer? seems like to me its going to be my new vacationing spot.

friday night [very late] my family went to hilton head for a quick stay while the guys went shrimping. man. how awesome are fresh shrimp. not too much beats them. we found a gorgeous little condo beach front. the weather was perfect, the shopping was ideal, and family time was exactly what i needed. we laughed, cried [because we were laughing] and hardly slept. we watched the guys bring in their catches that made us proud, had plenty of driving (mis)adventures, and jammed to oldies while driving with the windows down. couldn't have asked for a better weekend. sunday before heading back home, we decided to explore Harbor town, and oh my what fun that was. we enjoyed walking around at the harbor, looking through gift shops, dreaming about being on one of the huge yachts, and ate great seafood at one of the waterfront restaurants. so. much. fun. we finished up our trip with some ice cream from salty dog cafe. enjoy the photos :)

oh yea. i can't forget the lighthouse in hilton head, and the dolphin sightings on the beach. priceless.

what does peace mean to you? is it a song? a happy feeling? a butterfly? a person? a moment? a place?

peace to me is serenity. i love the simplicity of a butterfly. especially yellow ones. me and a few special members of my family know what i'm talking about. it just seems like when you need peace the most, its right there, in a form you didn't realize you needed/could see it in. know what i'm talking about?

i took a little "peaceful" adventure through the butterfly gardens in key west florida. wow, is that peaceful to the extreme. yes, its a sweltering temperature in there, but sometimes you have to endure "the heat" to get the peace, ever had this experience? i know when you do get to that point, that's what you appreciate. so, for you, enjoy these peaceful images i took at the butterfly gardens. and next, take a trip here.

today might as well be called a random thursday post. one, being because i know you guys look forward to what i have to say and there's not a whole lot for me to blog about... unless you care how much i've run around and worked this week :)

so... a cup of tea. what does that mean to you? to me... its relief from a headache. a long chat with a good friend. its a chai latte. a great closing to an autumn day. a stress reliever. today its more than one of those for me... and its black current tea that i have on tap :)

these are two of my favorite things, all wrapped up into one.
coffee + a good pattern

this is one of my favorite coffee mugs. simply because my hubby's is the opposite saying "her better half." i think its one of the best wedding presents we've gotten. i tried to look for this set for friends but haven't quite found anything like it.

so why?
i'm always attracted to pattern. especially those who resemble nature, just like this coffee cup. and coffee? need i say more?

my current favorite brew (other than pumpkin lattes currently) is hazelnut. you can't go wrong with it.

of course, lots of cream and sugar [splenda :)]

so its fall and its most our favorite times of the year. ive been thinking about orange and how it plays into our design for this time of the year. its one of my favorite colors for so many reasons:
-clemson football. yes i'm one of those who sport the orange and purple!
-fall harvest - pumpkins and lots of fall leaves... i'm now on search because they aren't changing around here yet.
-trends in fashion & nails

Just another glimpse over at my handmade shop there's going to be quite a few listings coming. Since I got the old gocco back and running... its bulbs and screens are mighty expensive, I'll be adding lots of fun new things in the shop. After I finish up two custom orders, I'll be taking custom request via my etsy page (link above). Since the gocco process requires burning a single image into a screen, you can only use the screen once. Therefore screens are expensive... and limited at this point. However, I will be using them to create my own tags and packaging for my handmade cards. How awesome is that?

Also... soon enough I'll be selling my work in DK Boutique & Spa in Spartanburg, SC and working on a list of other retail stores. Of course, the benefit of picking up supplies there would be free shipping!

So, here's my most recent project... all with fun girly flowers. Feel free to comment and let me know what you think!

I decided since I love love love reading bio and info from fellow designers, I'd do one on myself. I hope you find it as fun to read as it is to figure out myself! I'll also follow up with myself as a photographer.

At age nine, what did you both want to be?
A teacher. Every year on "career day" I dressed up as a teacher. In highschool I explored art. Loved it all. Thought about being a drafter for a good year, but soon realized it was not for me. I couldn't be creative enough and I love pure color so much I couldn't stand it.

When did you first realize you wanted to be a designer?
I guess my mom and grandma tried to tell me this for years. I remember being in elementary school over at my grandma's house drawing on left over mill paper. And in church, drawing things and passing them on to little men that sat behind us. My grandma and mom always saved my work... never knew why. My grandma told me she always knew I'd be an artist... and its funny the colors I used back then I still love. But designer vs artist? I love fashion, and its my quirky way out of it. I knew when I realized how excited I was studying fonts, and color relationship and shapes.

Do you have any formal design training?
Yes. I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from Winthrop University in Rock Hill. Pretty crazy and strategic program there that was very difficult... but well worth every tear and stress.

What tools, techniques, and mindsets do you find absolutely essential?
Visualization. That's the first key... to know in your head what you have in your mind. I've found if I go with that first its normally the best starting point. I'm not one to start with a blank canvas and throw stuff on there. I'm all about conceptualizing and planning. I usually have a color scheme in my head going in to it.

Do you have a favorite font?
Favorite? I have several. Right now I'm really digging Hypatia Sans Pro. I love Champagne and Limosines, and Futura. I love mixing serif fonts w/ sans serifs. A few of my favorite serifs are adobe garamond and adobe caslon.

What are the easiest and the most difficult aspects of the design process for you?
Easiest... Layout. I usually have in my mind what I'd like for the design to look like. I worked a lot in college about size relationships and teaching graphic design classes (now that I think about it) seems like that's all I harped on. Hardest... Sometimes I wish I were more edgy about my work... but some projects don't allow it. So, the hardest part is... "Staying back." Being a little more conservative and being ok with it.

How many iterations does it take for a design to become final?
Depends... usually a good 3. This is great though... it forces me to be better at what I designed, push it and really solidify the design.

How do you come up with such different stuff?
I read blogs. I look at inspiration... I get inspiration. I love anything nature related and the colors you find in it. Trends in fashion also influence my designs as well.

Did you have any other paper products in your wedding?
I did. I designed our save the dates (printed with my own gocco printer) on recycled paper. They had a funky fun finish. I designed our wedding invitations (which were gatefold and had a fun belly band.) Also, each candy card at the candy bar, name tags, and gift tags for the candy bar. My favorite was our programs. I think my hand still hurts from punching all those holes.

Favorite design tool?
I really stand strong with a mix. I love photoshop for the fun things you can design and make... and accidents that become some of your stronger work... but then illustrator for drawing... and indesign simply because of all of your printing options. i suppose i couldn't pick just one.

What designers do you really admire? Do you have a favorite graphic designer? Fashion designer? Furniture designer?

Jessica Hische. She's fantastic with her typography... something I wish I could get a better grip on. I love simple, fun clean designs.

What advice would you give a new designer?
1. Push the envelope. Its better to be pulled back than to be conservative about everything.

2. You have to be able to take harsh criticism. At the time I hated it, but thank you Winthrop for running all our designs into the ground. I wouldn't be able to stand up for myself or even know what I was doing had I not had that experience.

3.Design for you, not for the "world." Its hard to do this sometimes but you will be happier with the end result.

:: snippets of fall

so my favorite time of the year. its come. its starting to show its face and i can't tell you how excited i am about it. theres only a few things i look forward to... really...

-pumpkin (ANYTHING) mostly breads, candles, smells, coffee (ok i lied there's many things) too bad you don't get a picture of my first pumpkin bread endeavor... its almost gone.
-leaves changing colors - amazing bright reds and oranges
-crisp air, just enough for a cute scarf or some boots
-hot coffee (see typically i have a special place in my heart for iced coffee... but nothing beats a pumpkin spice latte when the air is chilly)
-apple... everything... pies, spice drinks, etc

Although the weather here in SC hasn't really transformed itself into fall, I'm still excited. Mornings are just cool enough to ride with the windows cracked and for an evening walk with my pup. We started off this new week with a walk around the "lake". We watched ducks, took our baby Max down to the water and let him play, and just enjoyed the weather on Sunday afternoon.

bridal : sneak peak

This weekend was a gorgeous one in Greenville, SC, and so was the bride for the bridal shoot in Reedy River Park. The wind hit at just the perfect time, cooling us all off from our climbing on rocks, battling the people, and long walks. There wasn't a cloud in the sky. Here's just one fun photo from our shoot... can't spill too much because their wedding isn't until November! Can't wait to experience it with this lovely bride!

So, the week has finally come to an end. As I spend my Friday night (like I would prefer) I'm making new jewelry products, new felt brooches, and taking my mind of graphic design for a minute (which doesn't happen... only to go to the form of another art for an afternoon) kind of refreshes me. I'll be posting some of the fun things I'm working on and the new handmade cards that I've been doing for a custom order.

To leave you with a fun little before after, I'll have to preface it by saying... This is a great friend of mine's work from college. She and I have collaboratively grown in our work together and are always looking for fun new things to do. So, we grabbed a few girls together for a before and after shoot. Well hi! Its been quite a while, I know. I'm sorry for all of you guys who faithfully look forward to my post.

So what have I been doing? Transitioning. I've been working as a full time graphic designer with my side stationery/photography business. Its fun and full of lovely art. I wouldn't have it any other way.

So, here's 2 of my past projects.

First off, all the blue. The bride wanted a pretty light blue flower worked into all of her designs. We had so much fun with the paper stock. Its hard to tell, but its a stark white metallic paper. Such fun. It was backed with a cardstock and then assembled with the embossed "M" stickers on the back. Such a cute and creative finish to their custom wedding stationery. I was also given the priviledge to create their save the dates (previous to their invitations) and their wedding books as well.

Secondly, the beach wedding. What a gorgeous wedding this was. Sunrise, mimosas and all. The theme was the sand dollars and rich browns. Turned out great. The bride gave me the honor of creating wedding invitations, thank you cards, and tags for the gifts. Such fun.

Well, today is a happy day for us two over here... We've been married already for 4 months! Time just flies by I'm telling you. But its great and I have certainly enjoyed it so far! So, you must know my two loves: my husband and graphic design (and photography but we'll have to get to that later.) So, if you put these two together, with a [4 month] anniversary, you get a MINIVERSARY! Thanks to my grandmother and many other close family members who made significant contributions to our china, we have beautiful china just sitting and needing use! So, if you can imagine, this china, [Elegant Swirl by Nikko]

So anyways back to the other love: graphic design. I thought what better of a way to design a menu for my husband on our miniversary! This is what I came up [and yes, this is our meal for tonight] I found the recipe via Real Simple, and I've been excited about it for over a week. They are some of his favorite foods and I think he'll be very excited. So, let me let you imagine... a nice menu on our black table, black formal placemats with matching Elegant Swirl china, matching iced beverage glasses, and candles. Sounds exciting huh? I'm excited, but I do get a little overexcited sometimes. Here's our menu:

So, back to my third love; photography. There's a sad story for Mr. Canon who is no longer with us. He just happened to get water/moisture damage while in a WATERPROOF bag on the Chattooga River canoeing experience. He's since had to be retired, but thankfully, I have a 20D Canon on the way! I couldn't be more excited about having a camera back in my hands, however it will take some getting used to. So, needless to say you get the idea of the night, just not the pictures. And again, I apologize for the lack of post regarding to photography. I literally just can't do it!

Just a few things I'd like to have right now...

A damask stencil. We've decided to stencil our master bedroom in damask on one wall. It will be a glossy look but the same color as the wall [light blue].

Gocco lamp bulbs.
I really miss working with my gocco. If only I could get a few more bulbs, I'll be able to get going again!

A mighty mouse for my mac.
Ok ok, I know the reviews aren't lovely, but having a mouse that currently will not scroll, or right click or be able to pinch the sides to clear the screen, just isn't working for me now! I just. want. this. mouse.

Those are professional things I'd like, now personals... hm.

A new fall dress.
This would go just great with my new cowboy boots. I couldn't be more excited. [and i even have that belt too]

New flats in my favorite fall color: plum.
I can't get enough of this color.

Lastly, a new wallet.
This one is cute, but I found an even cuter one at DSW.
For those of you who know me... you know exactly why I NEED a new wallet. Just sayin.

Crabbin' in Edisto

Whoah. Has it been a while since I've last posted or has it been a while?

Things have been a little crazy around here. Trying to work on a few things and getting our new house together really just takes up all your time. Anyways, I just wanted to post a few things that you can look forward to seeing this week. And promise me, I'm going to need you to tell at least 3 friends about my blog. I'd love for my work to get out there, people are just missing so much! Seriously! Get ready, here it comes!

New Etsy items:
-Wedding invitations by style
By this I mean: I'll have a few new samples provided for you to choose from. I've found that most brides have an idea in mind, but just can't quite put their hand on it. This way, this will eliminate a lot of the "I just don't know what I want." They will be unique and generic designs, and even samples can be purchased if you're interested in just seeing if you like it. The purchased sample will serve as a credit towards your order.

-Wedding programs by style
Same thing goes here. Why not just go with one designer if you know she's got all the supplies to make your wedding pieces match blissfully? By have the expertise of weddings, planning my own, and loving the industry, I can help you find exactly what you need and create something you can only imagine.

-Wedding thank you cards
Same as before. Thank you cards are so special, especially in the south. And since I'm a true southerner, I know how much a simple note in the mail means to someone buying you a gift or even just because. So, why not make them special and have them match your wedding? Who wants a wedding just thrown together piece by piece?

-Wedding stationery packages
In this I will offer many solutions to help your wedding planning go just as smoothly as possible. In this I will provide options such as invites, response cards, accommodation cards, direction cards, all envelopes, printing options, thank you cards, programs, save the dates, and even name place cards.

Prosperity Map

So, on of my recent projects was recreating a comprehensive map of Prosperity, South Carolina. Now, one would think that I would have this all figured out since I have lived in Prosperity my whole life until my recent move, however so much changes in such little time in a little town like Prosperity. Here is the before map:

Well, after many meetings with the client and the Business Association, there is a new map, and it is pictured below. All places of business and interest are mentioned in a colored block, corresponding with a new name and color for Prosperity. Drawing frogs...

Just wanted to share a little drawing I just finished up. Shortly, it will be part of Prosperity, SC's (my home town) new brochure. Once the brochure is up and going I'll post a few samples of it. The brochure will be in rest stops and shops throughout South Carolina. For now, enjoy the frog. And later, I'll show you why Prosperity is known for frogs!

My new office!

Well, I finally have afterwards pictures for you from my previous blog about getting new office furniture. You can read that here.

So, here they are... look closely, its all there! :)

Let me just note a few things:
1- Check out the sunlight. This office is pretty much ideal because of all of the gorgeous sunlight shining through! :)
2- It may look messy, but come on people, I'm an artist. I got a lot of stuff :)

Well, I finally put my awesome gocco to work. And boy, does it take some practice and patience. Anyways, I'm going to attempt to explain how this thing works as best I can. So, here's the machine:

Its a small Japanese printer that you ink yourself after your burn the image onto a silkscreen. This is a photo of the gocco opened up. It requires 2 flash bulbs and a new screen each time you burn an image onto the screen, which is inserted into the small light blue area.

After you burn the image to the screen by exposing it with flash bulbs, you ink your image. After inking the image, your screen looks like this:

A mess. Its pretty much magic I'd say... how this thing works. For my first project I think I was pretty successful. However, this is actually a dual post... announcing our ENGAGEMENT!!! Since I am a designer, of course everything in our wedding will be designed by me (and the help and input of my wonderful fiance). Let me know what you think of them! Here's the final project, in its mass :) and also the hand-made envelopes that I made to complete the unique design for our party!

Where have I been?

Hey guys, I know its been forever since my last post. A week and a day to be exact. Anyways, let me just update on you on my whereabouts.

Friday - long day of packing, organizing and some crazy working out.
Saturday - even longer day of moving lots of stuff and setting up a new office, trying to get my laptop to work.

Monday - working on the laptop. Problems: Charger seems to fail... what can I say, its a 6 year old iBook and its still kickin. I'm very thankful! Got a few wedding invitation samples completed, discussed with customers. Lots of research.

Tuesday - faught with laptop all day. Decided to go with an old desktop temporaily... and its a PC. Yes, I said that right. Its pretty unfortunate but what I have to do. Its about the only way I can work remotely.

Wednesday - More tax work, hoping to finish it today. Researching and aquiring quotes for invitations.

Thursday - Bought lots of supplies for invites (hence the gazillion I have to produce in the next few weeks.) and a few things for the wedding :)

Friday - here we are today. Plans for today? Work on and complete tax stuff. Lots of organization. Wish me luck :)

Plans for next week?
1) Get LOTS of invitations done and in the mail.
2) More samples up on etsy - make sure you check it out by clicking on the links to the right of these posts!
3) Work on several custom orders... and ones that will be placed.
4) Get ready for a bridal shoot on Sunday.
5) I'm sure there's tons more on the agenda, my brain just can't focus on it right now!

As for now, have a fantastic weekend and look forward to new items in the shop!

Thundersnow... in South Carolina!

Well, guys, its time to share some pics of this crazy snow storm we had across the southeast. It made our 2.5 hr trip from Atlanta become 8 hrs, caused tons of accidents, tore down plenty of trees, (see photos below) but overall made me really happy. I love the snow and how it just beautifies the earth.

And lastly... photos E and I took of the house... check out the mailbox. We got at least 6 inches! :) Too bad we didn't get any pics of the little kids we went sliding with! The driveway pic is where E tore it up trying to get in and got stuck :)

25 Random Things About Me

So I'm sure some of you readers don't know a ton about me, and some of you may, but here's 25 random things you may or may not know about me. I thought it was a little more interesting here than on Facebook. Please feel free to respond! :)

1. I am a coffee junkie. It always, no matter what, puts me in a good or better mood. So now you know what to get me on the next holiday...?

2. My dad once pulled my arm out of its socket while swinging me around as a little girl. Maybe that's why I never got the correct growth spurts as a little girl.

3. I absolutely despise roaches. They are greasy and they crunch when you kill them!

4. I secretly want to be an interior designer one day. And a fashion designer. I guess the "graphic designer" that I am just inspires me to design other things. Maybe one day.

5. I absolutely love hands-on projects. I can't seem to separate my hobbies from my profession. Hmm.

6. I have this strange new obsession with melon and cottage cheese. Its my new favorite breakfast food.

7. I can eat a dessert and/or chocolate every meal of the day. You can never get enough sweets.

8. I have this strange obsession I guess you'd say with keeping things people give me. If a shirt doesn't fit anymore and somebody special gave it to me, I can't part with it. I'm weird I guess.

9. My new obsession right now is my gocco. I think its one of the greatest things that the Japanese made and I can't wait to be a master at it. (For those who don't know, its a mini CMYK printer that is FABULOUS!)

10. I am absolutely and completely excited about being a wife. (Only 4 months from Friday!) I love to cook, sometimes cleaning makes me happy (haha) and decorate. I love to try new recipes, whether I nail them or not.

11. I'm really girly. I love painting my nails, getting them done, buying makeup, buying clothes and bags that make me girly. I love girl time and I value that over a lot of things. I love to go to lunch and sip on some good wine.

12. I am trying to learn about wine. I still haven't crossed over into the red wine field, but I'm trying. I think there is something classic about a red wine drinker. I've been to two tastings and plan to attend many more. (With the ladies, of course. The FH (Future Husband) doesn't like wine, but will try it.

13. I am an obsessive blog reader. I have 97 subscriptions and I spend hours of my time reading. Believe it or not, READING. I don't read books, I read blogs.

14. I love school. I love learning and I miss being in school. I wish that I was still in school, the challenge always keeps me going.

15. I tried the most adventurous thing on Sunday, Oysters Redneckafeller. NOT to be confused with oysters rockefeller. This is the same, but add collard greens, bacon, black-eyed peas, hollandaise, and hot sauce. It tasted like chicken.

16. I don't eat processed meat. This includes sausage, hotdogs, deli meat unless its freshly cut, or anything of the like.

17. I used to play the flute and piccolo. I secretly wish I still played it so I could make some money in weddings. Now I photograph weddings, who would have thought.

18. I adore my little sister and think she's the coolest thing on earth. To add to that, I have the most unique and smartest brother, he'd do anything to help anybody out. My parents, are the most loving and giving set of people I could ever ask for. I talk to them everyday. My family is one of the best families I could have ever gotten.

19. I backed into my cousin's car one time in high-school. It was right behind me and I just took off w/o looking. He was standing on the front porch of my parents house watching me.

20. I think my favorite color depends on the season. I've always been one to LOVE color, just in general, and my work shows that. I always go for the brightest, boldest colors. My mom and grandma always used to say they knew I'd be an artist.

21. I am a APPLE lover. I will never, ever, (mark my word) go back to PCs. Ever.

22. I secretly love reality tv. I like it because it doesn't make me think. When I watch tv, I want to chill, not have to think. The only exception to that statement is every once in a while, I'll watch How Its Made. That's my dad coming out in me.

23. I think I have a chronic nightmare condition. Seriously. I have nightmares or night terrors whatever they are at least 2 or three times a week. Maybe I should get checked out. And my restless leg.

24. Christmas is my favorite holiday. I was told I've truly matured because I don't worry about what I'm getting, I just love to give.

25. When I was little I used to have the entire collection of Cabbage Patch Kids books. Oh, and a doll. I think her birthday was the same as my brother and aunts. Anyways, the books, used to haunt me. Seriously. I was scared to death of those things!

Well, for all of you who follow me closely know that I took a little trip down to IKEA and below is what we decided on for my new office:
1. The Expidit desk and matching bookshelf
2. The Mikael desk and coordinating glass
3. Skrift magazine files in red
4. Kassat assorted media holders

I can't WAIT to get it all set up in the new house!!! Its all coming together! I also have a new addition to my dishes... the Busig set of 7oz glasses, which I LOVE. They are the orange set - super cute little vintage glasses. IKEA didn't have them listed on the website. The new colors of the office will be a barn red, slate, and black to coordinate with the dining room. Yay for a real office! :-D Thank you IKEA and my parents!

So, my dreams finally came true and I am ENGAGED to the love of my life! After 8 1/2 long and patient years, my little man asked me to marry him. Peppermint and Chocolate

So, I love peppermint and chocolate together so much, whether it is at Starbucks [Peppermint Mocha], at Chic-Fil-A [Peppermint chocolate milkshake] or just in general. So, I tried a new recipe that is super simple, you should try making it for your holiday festivities.

Chocolate-Peppermint Bark

Prep Time:

15 min
Total Time:
1 hr 45 min

Makes:
10 servings, one piece each

What You Need

1-1/2 pkg. (12 squares) BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate

1 cup crushed peppermint candies

Make It

MICROWAVE chocolate in medium microwaveable bowl on HIGH 2 min.or until almost melted, stirring after 1 min. Stir until chocolate is completely melted.

SPREAD half of the chocolate on waxed paper-covered baking sheet; sprinkle with crushed candies. Drizzle evenly with remaining chocolate.

REFRIGERATE 1-1/2 hours or until firm. Break into 10 pieces. Store, placed between layers of waxed paper, in tightly covered container at room temperature, or in the refrigerator, up to 3 weeks.

It works best to crush the peppermints by putting them in your blender or food processor on pulse. I would have posted photos of this lovely little snack but mine didn't turn out too pretty :)
