Quote of the Week

A new feature: Quote of the Week. This was just a quick and simple autumn design, but I'll be throwing a new quote your way for contemplation... so enjoy!

It's FINALLY fall!

Guess what?! It is sooo... fall. I am thrilled. Really. This is one of my favorite times of the year, and I'm so excited its finally here. Ok, I know that I'm actually a week and half late realizing it, but officially yesterday it was fall to me. I started my fall season off yesterday with grabbing my first official Pumpkin Pie. Man was it good. Also, I made it a point to stop by City Brew to get a Pumpkin Pie Latte... [see photo above] which is one of my other favorites in the fall. So, YAY! Happy Fall! So, I have decided to make a list of my favorite things of the fall:

10. Thanksgiving... by far my favorite holiday of the year.
9. Being able to really enjoy the outdoors without sweating or freezing (the mid 60 degree weather) For all who know me well, I can still wear my Rainbows...
**Side Note: I will, and I promise, will be getting new brown Rainbows soon. My 5 1/2 year old-faithful's... according to Evan have petrified. I'll miss those 'ol things! :(
8. Cute sweaters, scarves, and boots (by the way I WILL get cowboy boots this fall.)
7. Visiting the mountains and staying in cabins...
6. Carving pumpkins... one of my and Evan's new traditions :)
5. All of the amazing colors of the leaves that God's created for us to enjoy
4. The crisp air in the morning that just makes you smile :)
3. Pumpkin Pies
2. Pumpkin Spice Lattes
1. Pumpkin Cheesecake made by my aunt Frances

So what are your favorite things of this new season? Please share!! :-D

Huntington Beach State Park

So, Evan and I took a little mini-vacation down to Huntington Beach State Park to stay with Bobby and Frances (my aunt and uncle) to fish and hang for the long weekend. So, here's a little recap of the weekend:

FRIDAY: Evan and I head down about 8:30 am and finally made it around 2. Needless to say we had to stop by Wal-Mart on the way down to get some salt water fishing gear, and a few things we forgot at home. The ENTIRE way down it was nasty and raining pretty hard. We walk out of Wal-Mart and it was gorgeous... and 75 degrees. Thank you, Lord :) Let me just add: don't make a pit stop for food at the Seafood Shack beside Wal-Mart in Conway. They don't have real fish there, and if you get that fake fish, prepare to eat pre-frozen rubber.

So, after Evan & Bobby's unsuccessful first day of fishing (ok they caught a few mullets -- which I just learned are a really bony fish) we all decided to come in to get ready for supper. We headed over to a microbrewery called Quigly's. Some good food happened right there. They even had peach beer. After supper we headed over to Bi-Lo to grab us some bug spray and hydro-cortisone for Evan's poison Sumac. :(

SATURDAY: Evan and Bobby get up bright and early to go shrimping. Oh my gosh did they catch some shrimp. See the photos with all the fish... 7 lbs total of shrimp. Frances and I head over to the Atalaya Festival... which was PACKED and made me ready to leave because of the amount of people. We headed back in time to meet the guys for lunch and then a little bit of beach time. Evan and Bobby were SO excited they caught their first fish of the weekend on Saturday -- see the photos :) We grilled some chicken and went out to Sonic for icecream later. Fun day.

SUNDAY: Can I just say we did not want to leave? The weather was incredible the entire time and we loved it. Evan even commented that it was one of his best vacations yet. After some lunch and some good chillin' time on the beach, we headed out of the campground to the outlet malls and then back to Greenville. After leaving around 4... we didn't return until 11:15 Sunday night. What a weekend :) Believe it or not, no sunburn for me! So, beware, there's tons of photos, but you know me... trigger happy :)

Evan's artwork

So, what do you do when you are bored at work? Draw new things. That's what Evan did. He decided to explore some new photoshop tools and make me a little design. What do you think? Who can design better?

... Wishin' I was still in college ...

So, I rush out the door this morning ready for ... yet another day at work.  Tired, didn't sleep well, and sore... from all of my "excruciating" haha workouts that I've been doing at the gym. I'm walking, no... running out to my car (because here lately I've been late to work, oh, everyday) and I'm like wow, its COLD.  I have a cardigan on top of another shirt and I'm thinking... its September 24th, and it feels this good? So, I jump in the car, in about a 10% better mood because of the weather.  I turn on my car... 61 degrees outside. LOVELY :)

I get to work... and the 10% just goes downhill again.  So, I've determined, now matter how much you love your job... its still a job as time goes on. You still have to put in your 9-5 hours, you still have to show up, and be happy that your there.  Granted, I love designing and taking photos, but the monotony of a job and the no windows thing here is killin' me. So, if I ever freak out on you when I see sunshine... that's why.  For now, I have my little sunflowers sitting my desk as my reminder of the outdoors.

But, the whole thing about college. Can I just say I LOVED those days when we went down to Winthrop Lake and just chilled. Skipped class and just sat on the grass by the water... walked around, and did nothing.  Those were the days... fall reminds so much of Winthrop... and as much as I ever complained about being in school and ready to get out; I miss it.  I miss it dearly. Yea, money and a paycheck is fantastic, but I'll never get over the 4 1/4 years of my college life :(

Downtown Greer

So I took a little stroll during work to downtown Greer... only to find that they actually were setting up for a Wing Fling festival.  But, I did get a couple cool shots of the plants there.  And, also, one of my favorites: iron.  I love iron work and I'm so fascinated with it.  Enjoy!

Wedding Invitations

So I've recently gotten into designing wedding invites, one of my favorite things to do.  I guess, its probably because I'm SOOO ready to design my own. I think i've officially been waiting for 8 years to do so.  But anyways, I'm working on getting a website up of all of the freelance I'm available for.  One day, I'd like to have my own stationary/card shop that I design wedding invites and basically the whole package - save the dates, response cards, etc.  AND, hopefully soon I'll be purchasing (or either a Christmas present, maybe) a Letterpress Machine.  I don't really know that I have the room for it in this small apartment, but luckily my little man has a room in his house just for me... for art :) So, if you know of anybody selling a reasonably priced letterpress machine, I'd love to talk to them.

Little School Kids

I got the opportunity to photograph at Frazee Dream Center, a place where kids with lots of uncertainty in their life go after school. These kids get to learn manners, behavior, games, and they get tutored. It was such an eye-opener to see how sweet these little kids really where. Check out their site. They've really got a lot going for them there. Frazee Dream Center
